REVIEW: EXPRESS TREATMENT AT SPRUCE MOOSE, HARROGATE

Hello! Last weekend I was lucky enough to be offered an express treatment of my choice at Spruce Moose, a new beauty salon in Harrogate.

They call their 30 minute treatments ‘express treatments’ and there is a large range of these. See their full range of express treatments here. If you know me, you’ll know I’m always complaining about my tight shoulders, so of course I went for a back, shoulder and neck massage. Spruce Moose is right in the centre of Harrogate, so these treatments are perfect for popping in during a busy day of shopping or wining and dining. When I’m back home for the weekend I’m always here, there and everywhere, so it was so nice to have a 30 minute chill out.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that the salon was beautifully designed and for first thing on a Saturday morning, very busy. That’s always a good sign! The pictures don’t show this but I didn’t want people to think I was weird just randomly taking pictures of them…

… and how nice is this HUGE lantern?

Upon arrival, Michaela was quick to sit me down, take my medical information and then took me to my treatment room. Every effort was made to make me feel very comfortable.

Seeing as it was 10am on a Saturday and the start of a very busy weekend, I went for the uplifting oil instead of relaxing oil. I also had a pretty bad cold last week so a relaxing oil would have probably sent me to sleep for the entire weekend! Funnily enough, after a massage with the uplifting oil followed by a lemon and peach green tea at LMDC, my cold seemed to vanish! I’m not sure whether this had anything to do with it but we’ll just go with it and say it did…

The massage itself was so nice, just what I needed. Michaela made sure she focused on my left shoulder, the area that I have the most trouble with and it still definitely feels looser. She did however say that muscles have memories, so I need to book another massage in a week or so to avoid a tension rebuild. Fun fact for you… by body is actually completely out of line due to a tension build up in my left shoulder, so I actually need a chiropracter to click me back into place. Fun!

If I was being picky, I’d say the only negative was that it really was an express treatment. It was supposed to take 30 minutes but it was only 20 minutes at a push. Does anyone else hate it when that happens?!

At the end of the treatment Michaela ran me through their membership scheme. You can pay Β£9.99 a month and receive 40% off every single treatment. There’s no joining fee or cancellation fee, just simply what it says on the tin. Personally, I only think it’s worth it if you go for 4+ treatments a month, which is extremely do-able as they do waxing, eyelash extensions, gel nails and a whole lot more. Included in the membership scheme is free gel soak off. Now, how good is this as it is such a pain to do it yourself and it seems such a waste of money to get it done professionally. So yeah, that’s a strong selling point for me!

If I lived back in Harrogate I would definitely become a member as I get my lash extensions, wax and gel nails done every month, so this would save me a lot of money. So if you live in Harrogate, make pampering part of your routine instead of a luxury and sign yourself up!
